About Aaron Weiss, MD

Aaron Weiss, MD, is a cardiac (heart) surgeon in the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery of the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute. He sees patients at Cleveland Clinic main campus.Specialty Interests: Adult cardiac surgery, complex cardiac surgery, reoperative cardiac surgery, heart transplant, ventricular assist devices, heart failure (CHF), extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), heart valve repair and replacement, coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG), aortic surgery, endocarditis (infection of the heart and valve inner lining).

I love heart surgery for many different reasons, but the most exciting is it provides me with the incredible honor of patients trusting me to make a difference in their lives. Leisure Activities: In his free time, Dr. Weiss enjoys traveling, photography and spending time with his family and two dogs. 

Experience and Outcomes

Cleveland Clinic performs more than 4,000 heart surgeries each year. All Cleveland Clinic cardiac surgeons complete between 300-400 cardiac cases per year.

Education

Dr. Weiss earned his medical degree from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York and  completed a six-year integrated residency in cardiothoracic surgery there. He currently is a PhD candidate in clinical research there. Dr. Weiss was named to the Cleveland Clinic medical staff in 2019.

Research, Publications and Speaking

Dr. Weiss has coauthored nearly three dozen articles in peer-reviewed medical and surgical journals, a cardiothoracic surgery handbook and chapters in a cardiothoracic surgery textbook. He has presented on the latest techniques in aortic aneurysm repair and topics in adult and pediatric heart surgery at national and international medical meetings.
