About

Amir Taraben, MD, FSCAI  is an interventional cardiologist in the Robert and Suzanne Tomsich Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute and practices at Hillcrest Hospital with an office in the Hillcrest Medical Building Two Suite 300. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Taraben is an experienced interventional cardiologist with special interests in complex and high risk coronary interventions, cardiac pacing, and transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography.  His passion is practicing general cardiology.

Dr. Taraben earned his medical degree at the University of Damascus School of Medicine in his native country of Syria, placing first in his class.  He served a residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, Ill. followed by a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, Mo., where he was Assistant Professor of Medicine  He completed his postgraduate training there with subspecialty training in interventional cardiology.

Prior to his appointment to the Cleveland Clinic staff in 2013, Dr. Taraben was a cardiologist with University Hospitals of Cleveland, practicing at several regional hospitals. His previous positions include 10 years as a consultant adult interventional cardiologist with King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he was Section Head of Cardiac Cath Lab and Adult Cardiology Section, and 14 years as a cardiologist with two major hospital systems in Missouri. Prior to that he worked as a clinical assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Missouri School of Medicine, Columbia, Mo.

Dr. Taraben has published numerous articles, abstracts and reviews in leading professional journals and presented at medical meetings and cardiac conferences in the United States, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria. He is a fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.
